Holly Bagwell, Chief Baker/GM

After graduating from University of North Carolina with a Business degree in 2001, Holly moved to New York City to pursue her dream of someday owning her own restaurant.  She enrolled in the Culinary Arts Program at the Institute of Culinary Education, where she earned her diploma in 2002.  Holly has worked as a server, Private Dining captain and manager in various NYC restaurants including Eleven Madison Park (NY Times 4-star), Cafe Gray, and Braeburn Restaurant.  She honed her baking and pastry skills at a restaurant in North Carolina where she worked for a year in 2004.  That was where she learned how to make Artisan Breads- the crux of the menu at CityGirl.  Holly moved to Danville in August 2009 to open CityGirl Bakery & Market and looks forward to bringing delicious, high-quality foods to the local residents of the Danville Area and to becoming an established member of the local business community.

Cynthia Bagwell, Finance/Operations manager

Cindy (Holly’s mother) has a degree in Economics and an MBA from UNC-Greensboro.  She moved to Danville in February 2007.  Cindy loves to cook and bake and shared that love with her daughters throughout their childhood.  She has always dreamt of opening an eatery with Holly and is thrilled to see it come to fruition.  Cindy has been instrumental in getting CityGirl off the ground by working with legal and accounting matters and setting up the financing.  She will continue to support the business by helping with the books and merchandising the specialty food market.
